Doug Norrie is an entertainment and sports writer, editor, and podcaster in the business for more than a decade. He currently is an Executive Editor for Walk Big, overseeing all Cornerstone content for TELL ME BEST and GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT.
How It Started
Doug has been a movie and television lover for as long as he can remember, in his formative years spouting off opinions to anyone who would listen. In 2008, he got a chance to start writing about them on the entertainment, movie, and television website CinemaBlend. Starting with long-form thoughts about the short-lived Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles, he would eventually begin breaking down and dissecting all manner of shows including The Office, Friday Night Lights, Parks and Recreation, 24, and more.
For CinemaBlend, Doug also created the popular column “This Rotten Week,” predicting the Rotten Tomatoes score for each new movie coming out in wide release. The column would run for years, projecting the scores (some correctly, some not so much) for hundreds of movies.
In 2015, he left a 14-year job in public education after starting the fantasy sports prediction and content website Daily Fantasy Sports Rankings with a long-time friend. It is one of the longest-running sites in the daily fantasy industry and is still active, creating daily projections and betting content for all major sports: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and PGA.
Doug is also a podcaster (and YouTuber), hosting the Locked on Nets podcast on the Locked On Podcast Network. It’s a daily look at the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and has become one of the most popular shows on the network.
In 2020, Doug was asked to start writing for GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT as a contributor. From there he moved to Team Editor and eventually Executive Editor for Walk Big. In his current role, he oversees a team producing Cornerstone content for GIANT FREAKIN ROBOT and Walk Big’s consumer site TELL ME BEST.
How It’s Going
Doug now spends his time working with the Cornerstone content team producing long-form and in-depth pieces on some of the biggest trending topics out there.
He lives with his wife and two daughters. As a family, they’ve spent the last five years traveling the world, living in Asia and Central America with a half-year cross-country road trip thrown in there as well. Every once in a while, he pops a thought onto Substack if the mood strikes.
