By nature, destination weddings are unique and memorable experiences for both the newlyweds and all guests in attendance. If you want to have a momentous wedding, and can swing the hefty bill that goes with it, then a destination wedding is certainly the way to go. However, one company is taking the very meaning of a destination wedding to new heights, or rather new lows. Gizmodo reported that U-Boat Worx is now making it possible for couples to tie the knot underwater via a submarine wedding.

U-Boat Worx, a Dutch submersible company, is bringing its submarine wedding vision to life with the development of its UWEP submarine. UWEP is an acronym for Under Water Entertainment Platform, and judging by the artist rendered conceptualizations, it is certainly poised to live up to that name, indeed. According to U-Boat Worx’s official website, the vessel features 1,600-square-feet of party space and can sink to depths as far down as 200 meters. The immense vessel is propelled by a 1.2-megawatt battery.

U-Boat Worx is touting its submarine wedding vessel as “the world’s most exclusive wedding venue” and one where the “possibilities are only limited by your imagination.” The UWEP was designed to have a malleable layout that can easily be adjusted to fit a couple’s unique submarine wedding vision. The lavish submersible can hold up to 120 guests comfortably and stay cruising through the deep seas for as long as 18 hours. Imagine enjoying a cocktail or skirting along the dance floor while feeling like you belong in Disney’s The Little Mermaid (1989). That would certainly be a memory to recount for the ages.

What’s more, is that U-Boat Worx has more than just submarine wedding aspirations for its UWEP. The company has already begun envisioning a whole host of other possible uses for its unique underwater venue. U-Boat Worx detailed the potential to be used as a restaurant, casino, or even as a unique place to hold a business presentation. If a company is looking to keep a certain product reveal as under-wraps as possible, it’s hard to think of a place more private than the actual depths of the ocean. Take a look at some of the impressive concept renderings below.

These submarine wedding vessels certainly have a long list of impressive features sure to perk the ears of adventure-seekers and business tycoons alike. However, it’s not just about being underwater with the UWEP. Following a long jaunt in the depths of the seas, the submarine also features a surface-level deck that guests can relax and lounge on after emerging from underwater. The company details it as an opportunity for folks to watch the sunset. Moreover, those anxious to take the plunge with the UWEP can take solace in the fact that the vessel is packed with a plethora of safety features. These include an emergency power system that can keep the U-boat operational for up to 96 hours as well as an automated alert feature that prevents the submarine from sinking to depths below 200 meters.
