When you think of a diamond engagement ring, it’s likely popular styles like the princess cut or even the iconic three-stone design representing a couple’s past present, and future will come to mind. However, one new style of a diamond ring has emerged that has the potential to make the act of popping the question all the more perfect. Food & Wine reported that an esteemed jewelry designer teamed up with a successful popcorn manufacturer and came up with the world’s first diamond popcorn ring. Check out the perfectly popped jewel below.

The popcorn ring is the brainchild of Stephanie Gottlieb and those over at Angie’s Boomchickapop. And aside from its obvious uniqueness, the product really is quite the looker! The diamond itself is a stunning 3.66 carat characterized by a yellowish hue with an impressive VVS clarity. The ring’s popcorn-esque shape is further enhanced by its equally unique gold base and band. Take another look at its delicate presentation below.

The whole process of creating this artful popcorn ring was actually quite involved. Gottlieb detailed that her craftsperson began with an 11-carat diamond that they then whittled down and carved into a shape resembling popcorn. To put further emphasis on the ring’s popcorn essence, the craftsperson made sure that it was defined by buttered popcorn’s classic color akin to what you would find at a movie theater.

Gottlieb explained that the idea for the popcorn ring was really born out of industry demand. She highlighted that there has been an increasing trend of folks looking for more and more unique styles of rings. “Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in demand for custom, unexpected and personal engagement ring designs,” Gottlieb stated via Food & Wine. A popcorn ring certainly aligns with that sentiment. Gottlieb went on to further detail that as a jewelry designer it gives her great satisfaction that she and her team get to contribute to a couple’s special moment in such a unique and unforgettable way. She artfully described it as the ability to bring “a touch of whimsy to a milestone moment.”

If you have a popcorn lover in your life and you think that the popcorn ring would be the ideal way to pop the question, then you’re in luck! These rings are available for purchase on Stephanie Gottlieb’s official website. There is, however, one caveat. These rings will set you back a hefty $50,000. That is no small drop in the popcorn bucket. Still, if you can swing what is now the average price of a new car in one fell swoop, the popcorn ring would certainly prove to knock the socks off any popcorn-loving aficionado.

Despite the high price tag of the popcorn ring, which, to be honest, is often expected when the word diamond is associated with anything, Gottlieb, her team of craftspeople, and those over at Boomchickapop deserve a nod of admiration for their willingness to do something different. Creativity births innovation, and that is true even for a diamond popcorn engagement ring.
