Peloton Rower: The Fitness Company’s Most Anticipated Machine
The Peloton Rower is a rowing machine with built-in display for instructional training and will start at $3,195 leading up to its anticipated Holiday release.

It has been a long time coming and for Peloton, a company that specializes in personal workout equipment, it is kind of shocking that the Peloton Rower will not have made its official debut until December of this year. But those who swear by the indoor workout machines and have the money to drop on one of these beauties, can pre-order now and can have their very own Peloton Rower delivered in time to help fight the Christmas holiday bloat. Make sure you’re sitting when you see the price tag.
THE PELOTON ROWER IS A ROWING MACHINE WITH BUILT-IN ON-SCREEN TRAINING CAPABILITY
According to Peloton instructor Matt Wilpers on their website, “Rowing is hard to beat when it comes to getting the most benefit out of each workout.” This is why the Peloton Rower is one highly anticipated piece of home workout equipment. Let’s see what it has to offer.
Like all other Peloton fitness equipment, the Peloton Rower is definitely on the high-end (highest, possibly) when it comes to price. But, when it comes to Peloton, you get what you pay for, which is a well-put-together piece of machinery. As most will agree, Peloton is pricey, but Peloton is worth it.
There are a bunch of rowers on the market that have come before the Peloton Rower. You have the Hydrow, Concept2, Ergatta, NordicTrack RW900, and Aviron to name a few. While a few of those are high-end, big names, nothing comes close to the power of the Peloton name.
The Peloton Rower is, as advertised, an indoor rowing machine. One of the first things you will notice with this top-end rower is that it has a nice big 23.8” touch screen. So much better to follow your rowing workouts on such a large screen.
Another thing besides the size of the screen is that it is also adjustable. You can tilt the beast 25 degrees up while also being able to rotate the screen 45 degrees from side to side. This will be a big help to rid yourself of any overhead glare or if you wish to climb off the rower for some extra training.
Since the Peloton Rower has yet to be released, the expectation here is that the big screen will be just as responsive as other Peloton screens such as the Peloton Bike+ and the Peloton Tread. The screen’s speakers are located at the top. The rower should have the same ability to navigate Peloton’s workout library similar to the Bike+ and Tread.
The Peloton Rower will offer customizable target metrics for your workouts. This allows you to fit your classes into your ability level. Now, you’ll be able to put your focus on the stroke (row) rate and how intense it needs to be.
As your Peloton Rower instructor reminds you to stick to your stroke rate, you will also be able to see your heart rate when it syncs with a compatible heart rate tracker. If you are one into competition, the big screen will also display the leaderboard on the right side. You will be able to hand out high-fives to fellow competitors and if you happen to be one of the leaders, you might get some of your own.
One more nice little touch Peloton has added for their rocking rower is a storage pocket and cup holder. Most of the rowers on the market do not include storage or even a place to set your water bottle. Their position, at the front of the rower, could be some cause of concern of getting in the way.
THE PELOTON ROWER IS WELL BUILT WITH A 300-POUND WEIGHT CAPACITY
The Peloton Rower has some serious specs. It is nearly eight feet long, which compares well to rowers like the Aviron, and weighs in at a hefty 156.5 lbs, which is a big 11 pounds heavier than the Hydrow. As for who can sit on it and use it, the Peloton Rower allows for a 300-pound weight capacity, which is well short of the Concept2’s 500-pound limit.
The Peloton Rower’s frame is built out of anodized and powder-coated aluminum, which appears to bring a very smooth rowing experience. How high the seat is off the ground won’t be known until you put this piece of equipment together, but Peloton does say that the rower will sit anyone from 4’11” up to 6’5”.
If you don’t care for the cramped feeling you get with rowers such as the Ergatta, then you will love the Peloton Rower. The footboards and pedals allow for more space as they are set further apart – a welcome relief. Peloton says those foot pedals, which your foot stays steady with foot/ankle clips and Velcro foot straps, will allow for any type of athletic shoe and will fit a woman’s five all the way up to a men’s 13.5
The Peloton Rower’s handle could also be a source of contentment as it is built of textured rubber. It is rounded and slightly angled, so that may also be beneficial to rowers, new and experienced. The center cut-out in the middle of the handle allows for versatility and single-arm rowing.
THE PRICE STARTS AT $3,195 WITH A REQUIRED $44 MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP
With the good, there comes the bad and in Peloton Rower’s case, it is their price tag. In fact, it is their TWO price tags. For the Peloton Rower, you will be asked to pony up $3,195. Then, to become a Peloton member and have access to all of Peloton’s rowing workout library, you will need to tack on an additional $44 a month.
Other than the big dent in your wallet, the Peloton Rower’s cons are minimal and hopefully manageable. It is a heavy beast, as we already mentioned, and its length can be somewhat inconvenient if you have limited space in your workout room. But if size and weight are not an issue, then wallet be damned.
IT’S THE LATEST RELEASE IN THE FITNESS COMPANY’S GROWING LINEUP OF EXERCISE MACHINES
Peloton is a very well-known and respected brand name. The company began cranking out its first bikes 10 years ago, owing its name to the cycling term, Peloton, which simply means a large group of bikers grouped together. It took them another six years before they jumped on board with their Tread.
The Peloton Rower is one highly anticipated machine. It promises a great workout and is built for just about anybody. You don’t even need to be into rowing to get the ultimate workout with this rower.
