The Miss USA Pageant is currently under investigation and the President of the organization, Crystie Steward, has been suspended. Several contestants raised the question as to whether or not there was favoritism shown to the current 2022 Miss USA title holder. There is a lot of drama surrounding incidents that took place during the time of this year’s pageant but Steward is standing firm that she has not shown favoritism and that the pageant is legitimate.
Pageants in general have a reputation that is usually split down the middle. Some people think that pageants are essentially harmful to women and that they objectify women. Other people of snider pageants to be a wholesome sport, confidence boosting and an empowering experience for those who participate in pageants, like the Miss USA Pageant.
Miss USA was first formed in 1952 and in that same year, the very first Miss USA Pageant took place in Long Beach, California. Today, Miss USA is known as a globally recognized organization. Miss USA is known to represent three things, empowerment, confidence, and influence.
The pageant wants contestants who compete and all those who watch Miss USA to connect with their own beauty of activate their throat chakra, their voice that is. The mission of the Miss USA Pageant is to give women access to skills and training that will elevate their physical beauty but most importantly, stoke and ignite their internal persona. Additionally, the vision of the organization is to give everyday girls across the United States a stage where they can truly hone life skills and self-confidence like no other.
While it sounds like Miss USA is a wholesome organization, focused and dedicated to bringing out the best in women, the organization is in the midst of some serious drama regarding the legitimacy of the judging of its most recent competition. Soon after the competition wrapped up on October 3, many contestants that competed in the pageant used their voices to spark concern regarding favoritism shown to the current title holder. In response to these bold allegations, the organization immediately suspended the president, Crystie Steward, and her company, Miss Brand Corporation, while the claims began being investigated.
Currently, the Miss USA pageant has been taken over by Miss Universe Organization and the investigation is being handled by a third party. Stewart is cooperating with investigators thus far and has even denied the claim that the pageant was somehow rigged in favor of one contestant. Stewart is standing by and holding her ground and saying that she would never ruin her dream of running such a life-changing and empowering platform for women.
Miss Montana, one of the contestants who competed in the most recent Miss USA pageant, has been one to speak her thoughts regarding the alleged favoritism most loudly. Miss Montana posted a TikTok video calling out sponsors of the pageant and claimed that the drama started because one of the sponsors posted a video of the winner just hours after she won the competition. Others have pointed out photos of the pageant owner doing the current Miss USA’s hair, showing the alleged favoritism.
Those claims seem to come from a place of jealousy and come off as slightly catty. Nevertheless, the organization is taking them seriously and continuing its investigation to get to the bottom of it. The current Miss USA title holder has spoken out and claimed to have won the title the old fashion way, fair and square.
