With the push for greener, cleaner energy, it is no surprise that car manufacturers have decided to change their business strategy. In addition to the chip shortage and increased demand for cars in general, car company Lamborghini has decided to permanently stop producing gas-powered vehicles. While this is the end of an era for the luxury car brand, it is also the start of something great.

Lamborghini has already surpassed its expected sales numbers for 2021, and the year is not over yet! Manufacturers have struggled to keep up with the increased demand, making these luxury vehicles even more sought after. Now, consumers will only have the option to purchase plug-in hybrid vehicles from the brand.

The goal? To release an electric car that will dominate the marketplace, with a target release date of 2028. By this time, Lamborgini hopes to create the ultimate electric car, that will not sacrifice the driving experience offered by a gas-powered vehicle.

While Lamborgini continues to struggle to keep up with demand, they are now taking deposits for their new hybrid car. Over 3,000 deposits have already been made, despite very few customers having the chance to take a peek at the vehicle prior to distribution. This shows customers’ hunger for a greener, sportier car that relies less on gasoline.

Lamborghini lovers worldwide question the integrity of the brand and design as the car company makes this transition and commitment to a hybrid driving experience. Nevertheless, ABC News states that employees are confident the company’s founder, Ferruccio Lamborgini, would be proud of this accomplishment. The brand is committed to staying true to the design, quality, and experience Lamborgini is known for.

The design and luxury offered by owning a Lamborgini car will not diminish simply due to the switch to a hybrid and eventually all-electric approach. The brand is confident in its ability to manufacture a car that is consistent with current performance rates and numbers offered by gas-powered machines. Prior to the first hybrid car being released to the market, Lamborgini promises peak performance is non-negotiable.

The first hybrid car offered by Lamborgini will resemble the design and specs of an Aventador, set to be released at the start of Q2 this year. The V12 engine will be newly-designed and offer a plug-in option to embrace a hybrid operating model. The company believes now is the very best time to release a hybrid car, due to advancements in technology aligning at the perfect moment.

Lamborgini is more than just a luxury car brand, it is a community. Buyers know that when they purchase a car such as a Lamborgini, they are investing in a machine that will bring them closer to other car lovers in the high-end space. While a fully-electric car offered by Lamborgini is expected to be years down the line, a wide variety of hybrid options will be available for purchase by 2024. Will you be in the market to be one of the first hybrid Lamborgini owners?
