Jeep is gearing up to release a quartet of all-electric vehicles. The Stellantis-owned automaker makes this maneuver alongside most other key players in the industry. Jeep’s electric lineup will launch in North America and Europe. The release aligns with both regions’ overarching plans to boost electric vehicle sales and infrastructure throughout the rest of the decade. The United States is aiming for 50% of all vehicle sales to be electric by 2030. Europe, way ahead of the US in terms of electric vehicle adoption, is looking for 100% of its vehicle sales to be electric by 2030.

Thus far Jeep has revealed three of the four electric automobiles it intends to release. No information has been revealed about the fourth all-electric Jeep to date. And overall, specs and specific details still remain pretty scant for the entire quartet. What is known so far is that in North America, Jeep will release the Recon and the Wagoneer S. Over in Europe it will launch the Avenger.

The Jeep Recon looks to be filling the spot that the Liberty once held. However, it’s evident that the Wrangler also had some influence on the overall design of the Recon, too. Like the Wrangler, drivers will be able to remove doors and install lift kits to accommodate different size tires. This is an electric vehicle that is meant to be taken off-road, which is something that is intrinsic to the Jeep brand itself. With the Recon, it’s clear that Jeep is trying to tap its diehard Wrangler enthusiasts. Those interested in the Recon will certainly “see a little bit of the Wrangler DNA infecting the design of the Recon, and that’s not by accident,” shared Jeep’s chief design officer Ralph Gilles to The Verge

Jeep’s Wagoneer S is shaping up to be the super-premium option for the brand. It’s also likely that the Wagoneer S will not be the final name for the all-electric SUV once it launches. Similar to the recent Wagoneer revival, the Wagoneer S will be a big boy with an even bigger battery to match its hefty size. Jeep has indicated that the Wagoneer S will boast a 400-mile single-charge range, 600 hp, and be able to go from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds. For such, a big car that’s pretty impressive. Speculatively, with the Wagoneer S, Jeep might be trying to reach the same market as Rivian, given that is a full-size capable adventure vehicle.

Jeep has eluded releasing any specific price points or release dates for its two upcoming North American launches. It’s likely that the public will get more info on the Recon before the Wagoneer S, though. The Recon is scheduled to launch at some point in 2024 and preorders are expected to open sometime in 2023. Deductively, the Recon will almost certainly be more affordable than the Wagoneer S, based on sheer size.

Jeep stepping into the all-electric space with four of its upcoming vehicles is a big deal. To date, the company has only had one foot on either side with its two hybrid models – the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe. The latter is scheduled to start hitting dealer lots soon. Overall, Jeep’s move into the EV space is indicative of a larger global shift toward more sustainable transportation.
