IHOP Now Making Its Own Cereal

What if you are a pancake fan but don’t have the energy to make them in the morning? Well, General Mills has just solved the problem for you! With recent confusing news of IHOP replacing wait staff with robots, and the advent of Maple Syrup Pepsi, this recent nugget will make sense to most. Hello IHOP cereal.
According to Food & Wine, IHOP is launching a ready-to-eat blueberry-flavored mini pancake cereal. The IHOP cereal is a take on an Instagram viral post from an influencer posted a couple of years ago. The influencer created a bowl of tiny fluffy pancakes and posted the recipe for all to enjoy.
IHOP saw the post and decided that the pancake cereal could actually be good! General Mills produced the cereal in partnership with IHOP. With recent reports that cereal sales are down and that General Mills’ biggest competitor, Kellogg’s was facing possible financial troubles, GM is certainly in need of a come-back product.
The IHOP cereal is blueberry syrup flavored and may not be fluffy, but they are perfect for enjoying any time of the day. It’s also easy to pack for snacks and reportedly is delicious as an ice cream topping.
The IHOP cereal is unfortunately limited, so stocking up is recommended. The crunchy blueberry morals are slated to arrive on grocery store shelves in early January in 2023. So many questions, and so much potential. What if you don’t like blueberry? Why blueberry in the first place? Will there be other flavors? We’ll just have to wait and see. But we may never know why blueberry.
Recent reports of IHOP changing its menu have brought the beloved restaurant back into the news. Because the COVID pandemic had affected sales since folks were not dining out, IHOP needed to figure out how to offer more food to more people. The answer is to expand its offerings from just breakfast to lunch and dinner.
As cereal companies search for ways to push the bounds of cereal-ness, restaurants push the boundaries of what they offer and when they offer it. Is it any surprise that IHOP and General Mills joined forces? As IHOP evolves, cereal shrinks.
General Mills has been recently experimenting with what brings sales, as evidenced by its Blueberry flavored delight. It is also experimenting with the size of its cereal pieces. Is smaller better? With an infatuation with all things little and all things cute, mini cereal is making its debut.
In fact, the new IHOP cereal is indeed a mini! We’re so excited to see what’s next! Mini cinnamon buns, maybe? So much more fun is in store when it comes to next year’s breakfast cereal.

Did Kashi murder the cereal empire? We aren’t saying that, but the timing seems right. But, hopefully, we are at the beginning of a cereal renaissance with IHOP cereal.
