How To Get Free Breakfast For A Year At Denny’s

For most people, a t-shirt is just a t-shirt, but for 150 lucky people, a t-shirt means a free breakfast subscription for a full year. Popular restaurant chain Denny’s offered the $5.99 shirts as a Black Friday promotion via their DinerDrip.com website. While the shirts sold out in seconds, the people who scored one can wear it to Denny’s for a free Everyday Value Slam meal every day until December 31, 2023.
Each black tee shirt has a unique QR code sewn onto the sleeve for easy daily redemption of the free breakfast offering. The shirts have a simple yellow line drawing of eggs, pancakes and bacon and the saying, “Everyday is a new chance to go after what you crave, to satisfy your appetite while staying hungry for more. Everyday you are free to live and eat deliciously.”
The Everyday Value Slam includes two eggs, two pieces of sausage or two strips of bacon, and a choice of bread. Diners can choose from two buttermilk pancakes, one slice of French toast or a biscuit with sausage gravy. The meal normally sells for $5.99, so the free breakfast shirt has a total retail value of nearly $2,200.
“This year has been particularly tough on Americans’ wallets,” said John Dillon, president of Denny’s. “At Denny’s, we’re always looking for new ways to provide value for our diners while delighting them with delicious food, so creating an innovative, first-of-its-kind wearable offer to unveil on Black Friday was a natural decision for us. The wearable represents a fresh expression of our ongoing commitment to value, and we look forward to hearing what our fans think and seeing the shirts in our restaurants.”
Fortunately, the free breakfasts aren’t limited to morning hours only. Denny’s serves their breakfast menu 24 hours a day, making it a popular hangout at 3:00 a.m. for people leaving late parties or nightclubs. It’s also a great place to score breakfast for dinner, though burgers, chicken and other savory fare are also on the menu.
The 150 free breakfast t-shirt owners must dine inside a Denny’s to redeem their daily meals. Only one person per table can use the QR code, and it cannot be used for online orders. Frequent travelers who scored an Everyday Value Slam tee can use it at any Denny’s location nationwide.
Although the free breakfast tees are no longer available, be sure to congratulate anyone you see wearing one the next time you go to Denny’s. According to Denny’s press release, this is the first time a restaurant has created a t-shirt that doubles as a scannable coupon. So even after the shirt loses its food-purchasing ability, it will be a collector item.
Of course, the internet had much to say about the free breakfast promotion. According to Denny’s nutrition information, an Everyday Value Slam can have more than 1,000 calories, 2,160 grams of sodium, and 47 grams of fat. On the ResetEra gaming forum, a person with the username matrixman92 joked, “At the end there better be another shirt saying I survived eating Denny’s for a year.”
Restaurant fans may no longer be able to get free breakfast, but they can still score unique Denny’s merch on the DinerDrip website. Offerings include a $25 fluffy bucket hat with the company’s smiling face logo, and an authentic $30 black Denny’s apron emblazoned with its name. Denny’s joins Chick-Fil-A, McDonald’s and other restaurant chains in promoting their brand through clothing and other branded merchandise. Denny’s is one of the largest franchised full-service restaurant chains in the world, with 1,613 locations around the globe. It was founded nearly 70 years ago in Spartanburg, South Carolina as a value-oriented family restaurant. Denny’s also has a Mobile Relief Diner that brings hot meals to victims of hurricanes and other disasters.
