The flavors of a classic everything bagel have gotten immensely popular. Trader Joe’s capitalized off this trend by creating its signature Everything But the Bagel seasoning, with many utilizing it in recipes on Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. Now, Burger King is cashing in on this craze by introducing a new everything-bagel bun.
A regular everything bagel consists of, well, everything. The seasonings include garlic, sesame, poppyseed, onion, salt, and more, giving the bagel that quintessential combination of spice and flavor. Burger King is testing this irresistible combination on its new burger buns starting this Monday, September 12. Two Burger King test markets will have this product for customers to try this bagel-inspired bun. The brioche-style bun with everything seasoning will be available at locations in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Huntsville, Alabama, for a limited time only.
So which Burger King classics will get the everything-bagel twist? The Everything Menu available at these two locations will include the Everything Whopper, the Everything BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and the Everything Breakfast Sandwich. All three items contain the same ingredients, except for adding the everything-flavored brioche bun. It’s not known yet if everything buns can be switched out for other menu items that aren’t listed on the Everything Menu, but it could be a possibility.
Like various other restaurant chains, Burger King is busy churning out new, experimental ideas to keep customers engaged. The chain has had a year chock-full of limited-time-only menu items, like the Impossible Original Chick’n Sandwich and the Whopper Melts. Burger King also tested out Cheesy Breakfast Melts to add to their breakfast menu. On top of it all, the restaurant chain is increasingly invested in its alternative meat products. As demand for Impossible products and plant-based protein increases, restaurants like Burger King have amped up their test kitchens to provide tastier, better options for vegans and vegetarians.
A month ago, Burger King released a plant-based version of its iconic Original Chicken Sandwich. For participating locations in Cincinnati, Ohio, customers got to taste-test an Impossible Original Chick’n Sandwich to assess the bold flavors of the meatless product. Without the mayonnaise, the plant-based sandwich is completely vegan-friendly. While many restaurant chains focus on replacing ground beef or meat patties, Burger King is one of the first to redo its chicken products with Impossible plant-based substitutes. Impossible’s Chicken Patties are even better for the environment, using Impossible Chicken Patties made from Plants use 49 percent less land and 44 percent less water than their animal counterparts.
Burger King has been pushing the boundaries of plant-based meal options for years. Entering a partnership with Impossible Foods in 2019, the two companies have steadily replaced the fast food giant’s menu items with viable, tasty meat alternatives. That same year, Burger King released its Impossible Whopper, which changed the fast-food industry forever. The burger’s success initiated an overarching industry change, where more restaurants invested in plant-based products to revamp old menu items.
Burger King isn’t hesitant about releasing unique menu items to consumers nationwide. The Everything Menu is an exciting change of pace from the company’s laser focus on releasing meat-alternative products.
