Many fast-food chains are looking to revamp their menus for a more vegetarian-friendly experience. With the inclusion of the Impossible Burger three years ago, Burger King has popularized the plant-based patty while slowly incorporating it throughout its worldwide stores. Now, Burger King is set to release its newest vegetarian burger option: the Impossible King.
Alongside the Impossible King will be a complete transformation of Burger King’s iconic Whopper. The Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper will be introduced soon at local chains, switching up the notable sandwich favorite to an entirely plant-based alternative. This is the first time in three years that the Impossible patty is being introduced to other menu items, following through on the restaurant’s promise to keep elevating its vegetarian roster.
A spokesperson for Burger King made a statement about the Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper, saying “guests have continued to express their excitement” after introducing the newest plant-based menu item. Since many Burger King customers are enamored with the Impossible products, the chain will likely continue releasing more vegetarian-friendly options in the future. Like the most recent Whopper, the chain will also transform other burger options into plant-based ones. The spokesperson finished their statement by adding how enthralled the company was to continue providing customers with quality options for those with vegetarian diets.
The two plant-based burgers will be added to the Burger King menus on June 27th. The Impossible King will be comprised of an Impossible patty, American cheese, pickles, onions, mustard, and ketchup, placed on the iconic sesame seed bun. For those familiar with the Burger King menu, the Impossible King is the exact same burger as the Single Quarter Pound King but with the plant-based patty. The Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper will have the same ingredients as the regular Southwest Bacon Whopper, but its bacon and patty will both be meatless.
Alongside the Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper, Burger King will be unveiling three other options in the same “Southwest” category. The Southwest Bacon Whopper Jr., Southwest Bacon Whopper, and the Double Southwest Bacon Whopper will be included on the restaurant chain’s menus starting June 27th. Unfortunately, these options will not come with an Impossible patty. These three burgers will come with bacon, a spicy cream sauce, and an avocado spread. Though the chain focuses on including Impossible options, the company still couldn’t do a menu overhaul without adding just a few more meat-forward items.
For many restaurants, including avocado in your meal costs extra money. This goes for Burger King’s Southwest Bacon Whoppers as well, but there is a beneficial catch for those with Royal Perks. If you’re a Royal Perks member of the chain’s rewards club, you’ll be able to add avocado spread to any burger on the menu. The promotion will start on June 30th but will last for a limited time only. If you love avocados on all your sandwiches, signing up for Burger King’s rewards is the perfect program for you. Though the craze around Burger King’s Impossible patty has mostly died down, the company continues to change its menu so more exciting, plant-based options are available.
