Brach’s is a candy brand that sells treats all year round. Unfortunately, candy corn sales only really peak in October. This galvanized the company to rebrand the iconic dessert for year-round festivities. The Tailgate flavors incorporate the tastes of summer sports and activities with other, more standard candy flavors like fruit punch and vanilla. Earlier this year, Brach’s made headlines by releasing a similarly unorthodox candy line called Late Night Taco Truck Jelly Beans. Now, the candy company is releasing another eyebrow-raising concoction to the delight of many curious candy corn fans.

If you want to try out Brach’s Tailgate Candy Corn, candy packs will only be available at Walmart stores. Each package comes with five distinct flavors of summer: Fruit Punch, Vanilla Ice Cream, Popcorn, Hot Dog, and Hamburger. Brach’s goal is to showcase the nostalgic flavors of summertime and early fall, like popcorn and hot dogs, while also giving the consumer that quintessential candy corn taste. The rebranding of candy corn may increase its availability and consumption nationwide.

Ferrara Candy, Brach’s parent company, also elaborated on the newest candy corn invention. The statement from the company talked about Brach’s dedication to “moments of celebration” and that it has a longstanding history connecting festivities with flavors. The Tailgate Candy Corn line is the newest addition to a long list of distributed candies associated with family get-togethers and American celebrations. Ferrara Candy and Brach’s are tremendously excited for their candy corn release, hoping their dedicated fans will enjoy the newest unconventional flavors they have created.

Though exclusively sold in Walgreen stores, you’ll also be able to purchase them on Brach’s website. A single pack of Tailgate Candy Corn is priced at $3.49, or $6 if you’re feeling adventurous and would like to buy two. The website also contains many other candy corn products, including an Autumn Mix, Turkey Dinner, and Caramel Apple Mellowcremes. The Autumn Mix Candy Corn includes a combination of fall-inspired treats, with pumpkin-shaped candies and autumn-harvest-colored corns. The Turkey Dinner Candy Corn pack is advertised as a full Thanksgiving dinner. These candies include turkey, stuffing, and green bean-flavored corns. The Caramel Apple Mellowcreme pack has apple-shaped candies with a layer of caramel coating.

Candy corn is the essential candy of Halloween, but how did it become so popular in America? The invention of candy corn started more than 100 years ago, in 1880. The original name was “Chicken Feed,” after the candy’s physical similarity to poultry food. The taste and ingredients of the dessert reflected the candy-making of many other popular sweets at the time. The 19th century was known for its buttercream base, which is still apparent in candy corn today. It wasn’t until the second half of the 20th century that candy corn was exclusively associated with Halloween or autumn.
