Following the success of its collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market, McDonald’s is launching a brand new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Happy Meal. The limited edition Marvel collectibles, which are currently available at all participating outlets, gives everyone the chance to celebrate their inner hero. Each box mimics the titular superhero’s armor and is accentuated with the restaurant’s classic smiley face and signature golden arches handle.
Every Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Happy Meal features one of 10 toys based on popular characters from the movie. This includes fan favorites like Shuri and Okoye as well as newcomers like Namor and Ironheart. Speaking about the Marvel collaboration Vice President of Marketing, Brand Content, and Engagement at McDonald’s, Jennifer Healan said the first movie inspired the fast food giant to create the new meal.
The first Black Panther movie inspired a new generation of Marvel fans due to the powerful story it told, brought to life by an incredibly talented cast. “It set a whole new standard for representation on the big screen,” said she said in a press release. “And now, we’re excited to bring that experience to our restaurants and help fans see and celebrate their inner hero with this new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Happy Meal – because seeing is believing,” she added.
From fan-favorite restaurant offerings, like the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Happy Meal, to marketing initiatives designed to help drive representation, McDonald’s has always been committed to amplifying the voices of the communities they serve. Their initiatives include programs like Future 22, which recognized 22 black visionaries driving meaningful change in communities across the country via the Black and Positively Golden platform.
Spotlight Dorado helped emerging Latino filmmakers create short films to boost industry representation, while the Marcus Graham Project partnership helped to diversify the marketing talent pipeline by creating opportunities for marketers of color. And since McDonald’s kids’ meals have brought smiles to customers for decades, the company is excited to give them another way to experience the Kingdom of Wakanda with the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Happy Meal.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (and the Happy Meal) comes two years after the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, who lost his battle with cancer in 2020. Written and directed by Ryan Coogler, the movie is the 30th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The story sees the leaders of the African nation fight to protect it from invading forces in the wake of King T’Challa’s death.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will feature returning cast members, who also get their own Happy Meal toy, like Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Dominique Thorne, and Danny Sapani. The film also stars Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, Tenoch Huerta, and Alex Livanalli.
The highly anticipated movie, which is the second-longest title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind Avengers: Endgame, will arrive in theaters worldwide this Friday, November 11, 2022. Meanwhile, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever collectible Happy Meal is available while supplies last.
