If you’re planning to go ahead and replace your Mac or iPad, you may want just to wait a little bit longer! A new Apple iPad Pro is heading to the marketplace now with an M2 processor. Faster and more efficient than the current M1s. Oh, and new Macs are headed our way too.
Apple lovers rejoice but according to Engadget, this is just a leaked memo, even though the sources are strong. The new Apple iPad Pro M2 processor is allegedly just days away from getting us to buy it. This is the first new model since May of last year. Well, it’s about time.
The new iPad Pro M2, which may, or may not, come out later this week, will reportedly have a 20 percent bump in speed and efficacy. It may not sound like a lot, but for an Apple product—which is efficient to use anyway—that 20 percent will be nice to have.
Although Tell Me Best recently reported rumors of a foldable iPad coming soon (a type of MacBook and iPad hybrid) this isn’t that. The form factor of the new iPad Pro M2 will look the same as iterations in the past, but with one significant change. That difference is that it will have a USB-C instead of a Lightning port.
This change to get away from the Lightning port is due to European standards (not to mention, lawsuits). The drama came from a couple of places around the globe like China, Brazil, and the EU and the lighting ports made the Apple products beholden to Apple’s charger—which tends to be a bit pricey (and annoying) when your product doesn’t come with a new charger.
Not to mention that Apple highly suggests that you do not use a third-party charger. Looks like Apple is starting to take note of what the world is demanding and changed back to a USB-C for ease of use.
And speaking of Apple paying attention, more good news is on the horizon. Recently, Google revealed its upcoming Pixel Tablet which comes with a charging speaker dock. So, later this year, Apple will launch a charging speaker dock that will give users a full hub/smart speaker experience.
Later this year—perhaps in time for Christmas and the gifting holidays—it is reported the company will launch new MacBook Pros with the coveted M2 processor. Happy holidays indeed. The Apple M2 processor that is in the iPad Pro M2 is designed solely by Apple.
Earlier iterations of the processors were designed by Intel. Going forward, all M2s and whatever comes after that will be designed by Apple silicon. In 2020, Apple CEO, Tim Cook announced its two-year transition plan for a move toward Apple silicon processors. Looks like he is meeting his goals.
Finally, Apple allegedly will launch its new Apple TV. It will use an A14 chip and come with 4GB of RAM, offering a boost over the current A12 model. No mention of new programming to go with it. But, it will be able to store more content.
So, if the leaked info is correct, Apple will have a very happy holiday season. With new watches, new iPads, and new computers. All pro, all M2, and to all a good night
