Leaked Pentagon Documents Reveal The US Government’s Biggest Fears
The Pentagon documents open up a lot of questions for the public, such as how Western special forces are operating inside of Ukraine, why Egypt was planning to supply Russia with rockets, and what is going on with the Chinese supersonic weapons tests that happened in February.
Dozens of highly classified Pentagon documents have been leaked and are currently circulating widely across the internet, according to BBC. These files have been available on Discord since February, comprising a wealth of military terminology and timelines. Several of these documents bear the “Top Secret” classification and provide intricate details on the Ukrainian conflict and China‘s affiliations.
According to officials, the Pentagon documents’ authenticity is not in question. However, the disclosed documents do open up a lot of questions for the public, such as how Western special forces are operating inside of Ukraine, why Egypt was planning to supply Russia with rockets, and what is going on with the Chinese supersonic weapons tests that happened in February.
So let’s get into what these Pentagon documents revealed. In addition to compromised military acronyms, the files pretty much confirmed a lot of conspiracies that were already generally accepted as truth. For instance, Western special forces are camping out in Ukraine.
While we already suspected that members from the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Latvia, and the Netherlands were present in Ukraine, having these Pentagon documents leaked confirms it to Russia, who already suspected they weren’t just facing off against Ukraine, but Nato as well.
Additionally, the leaked Pentagon documents revealed that Ukraine is preparing for the offensive in the Eastern part of the country with the help of Western allies, but doubts remain about their chances of success due to difficulties in generating and sustaining sufficient forces. The documents also highlight Ukraine’s struggles to maintain its air defenses and list casualty figures, including up to 223,000 Russian soldiers killed or wounded and up to 131,000 Ukrainians. While some Ukrainian officials have dismissed the leaks as possible Russian disinformation, others are frustrated and calling for more long-range weapons to end the war.
A different leaked Pentagon document disclosed that Egypt was planning to produce 40,000 rockets for the Russian military. These efforts were meant to remain secret to avoid causing problems with Western countries. The documents detailed that the weapons’ creation was meant to repay Russia for an undisclosed favor the country had done for Egypt in the past.
It is unknown whether or not Egypt decided to go through with the production, though it’s believed that they probably didn’t consider the problem it would have created between Egypt and the United States since the U.S. is one of Egypt’s biggest customers for this industry.
According to other leaked Pentagon documents, Beijing conducted a test of its DF-27 hypersonic glide vehicle, an experimental missile, on February 25. The missile flew for 12 minutes, covering 2,100km (1,300 miles), and is believed to have a “high probability” of penetrating US ballistic missile defense systems. The leaked documents also revealed information about a new Chinese warship and a rocket launch in March aimed at improving China’s mapping capabilities.
Finally, one more classified Pentagon document reveals a sensitive conversation between South Korean national security advisors who are torn between the United States pressuring South Korea to send ammunition to Ukraine and their policy of not arming countries at war. The report, based on signals intelligence, suggests sending the shells to Poland instead to avoid appearing to have given in to United States pressure. Seoul has been reluctant to arm Ukraine, fearing it could antagonize Russia, and as part of a resupply deal, last year insisted that the United States could not pass the shells on to Ukraine.
