There Aren’t As Many Open Jobs As You Think There Are?
With the fears that a recession may hit at any moment, businesses are cutting down on any expenses that they can. With companies tightening their belts and not employing as many people as they once would, there are too many entry-level employees and not enough open jobs.
This shortage can be said for many countries globally, not just America. Australia has been reported to have fifteen entry-level employees available for every open job. For people who have just received qualifications and are starting their working life, these conditions are challenging as they have to compete with more qualified candidates or prospective employees with more experience.
Unemployment is complicated, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. To be officially considered unemployed, you must be actively searching for a job for a month before completing the unemployment survey and be able to start immediately after completing it.
Due to these specific conditions, the unemployment statistics do not reflect the actual state of the Australian open job market. It does not show how hard it is to break into the job market for someone with little experience or qualifications. Let alone someone with disabilities or learning difficulties.
Official records show a different story. It shows that the Australian unemployment rate has been declining steadily over the last few years, indicating a job boom rather than an oversaturation of entry-level employees. This makes job seekers feel like their inability to secure a steady job is a personal failure.

These issues resulted in people being unable to log in, look for a potential open job, and receive their income support payment.
Job seekers have also stated that the automated platform is unnecessarily harsh when giving out penalties or payments and needs a more human or personalized touch. People are calling for the failing system to be replaced with something that works for the people of Australia, not something that ticks a box for the government.
It seems like the citizens need an employment system or sector that will listen to them and place them in jobs they have a chance of getting or something that may further their careers, not something that is automated and picks open jobs from an algorithm that doesn’t work.
Without someone taking control of unemployment in Australia, the prospective future of many employees will be grim, to say the least. It is not just Australia where growing unemployment and a potential recession are becoming a problem. Still, every country can learn something about listening to their citizens instead of just relying on statistics that do not show the full extent of what is happening.
