When Old Man Winter begins creeping across the land, we instinctively head indoors to hunker down. Nothing is better on a cold night than cuddling up under a blanket with a loved one at home. But what makes it even better is replacing your basic sofas with heated couches that add an additional layer of warmth on snowy, blustery evenings.

Heated couches are a relatively new option in the furniture market, so you may not be able to get one at your local furniture store. We have taken some of the guesswork out of trying to find a great heated sofa online. And if a heated sofa is too big for your living space, we also found some awesomely toasty heated chairs that will do the job quite nicely.

Keep in mind, though, that while many of these luxurious seating options include additional features like USB ports, massage modes and ample padding, they aren’t exactly the most aesthetically pleasing pieces of furniture. Most of the heated couches have the appearance of theater recliners or a basic leather sectional. You won’t find a luxe velvet heated sofa or a gorgeous midcentury lounger that warms and massages your back—at least, not yet.

Raymour & Flanigan has three- and four-piece power-reclining sectional heated couches covered in graphite poly/nylon upholstery that will fit in any modern or contemporary-styled home. In addition to heating and massage functions, the power-reclining seats and headrests have infinite positions. It includes memory and lock button features so you can easily return to your favorite settings—but expect to pay around $5,000 for this sumptuous sofa.

TheaterSeatStore offers even bigger—and more expensive—heated couches in a variety of pre-set sectional arrangements. Their Bliss LHR Massage Sectional is aptly named as every recliner seat has power lumbar, headrest, and recline settings that enable you to tailor your own personal bliss zone. It has integrated LED lighted cupholders and base rails that provide just enough light to find your seat when the room is darkened.

Aesthetically speaking, the Bliss sectional is one of the more attractive heated couches you can find, as it’s covered in soft Italian top-grain leather. It could set you back nearly $10,000 to design your perfect sectional, but financing is available. Fun add-on accessories include reading lights, tray tables, snack bowls and phone holders.

If you have a smaller floor plan—and budget—a pair of heated massage recliners could be a better option than shopping for heated couches. Overstock.com has several to choose from, including this Mcombo Electric Power Recliner Chair with multiple heating and vibration settings. It also comes in seven different faux leather colors, including black, blue and a fun bright red.

Once you’ve become accustomed to heated couches or recliners that also massage your back, it’s tough to spend eight hours a day in an ordinary office chair. Never fear, though—Amazon quite literally has your back with this HOMREST Ergonomic heated massage executive office chair. Virtually everything on this cushy chair is adjustable and it even has a retractable footrest for those lunchtime power naps.
