Ford Completely Halts Sales Of Popular Vehicle Due To Serious Safety Concerns
In an urgent and sweeping move, all sales have been halted for the Ford Mustang Mach-E due to a serious safety issue.

Ford released its Mustang Mach-E last year, but the newest EV is coming to a manufacturing and distributing halt. The company instructed its distributors to stop selling the Ford Mustang Mach-E immediately due to a defect that could cause the vehicle to be immobile. All Mach-E cars over the past two years are affected, including the 2021 and 2022 Mach-Es.
A Ford spokesperson stated that they would be recalled almost 49,000 of the Ford Mustang Mach-Es that were released since 2021. That’s nearly half of the amount of Mach-Es that exist in the world currently. The problem stems from the EV’s engineering, which could potentially stall the car when it is in motion.
The Ford Mustang Mach-Es have been investigated after some concerning news about its battery. The problem surrounds the battery’s main contactors, which have the potential to overheat. If this occurs, the engine could stop running, which wouldn’t allow the car to start. But what’s even scarier is that if the car is already in motion and the battery contactors overheat, the vehicle could become immobile and lose its propulsion power. This is a significant, life-threatening issue that could have Ford drivers in a dangerous situation if the cars aren’t recalled fast enough.
Ford’s Mustang Mach-Es isn’t the only electric vehicle on the market receiving scrutiny and being recalled. As electric cars have become more popular, different automotive manufacturers have put pressure on releasing electric-powered vehicles to keep up with the changing market. But Ford, alongside huge EV companies like Tesla, has had plenty of controversies revolving around the functionality and safety of their latest releases. Even before the car company released its Mustang electric vehicles, Ford had recall issues with other models like its Ford Explorer.
The Ford Mustang Mach-E had previous recalls before this extensive one was enacted. Previously, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration needed Ford to recall its EVs with software malfunctions that accelerated the vehicle without intended force. That error occurred in less than 500 vehicles, but those EVs were immediately identified. Insufficient bonding for its glass-panel roofs made Ford recall thousands more Mustangs following the software issue. Now the car company is dealing with its most extensive Mach-E recall yet, which concerns the company’s future EV sales after the Mach-E is remodeled.
The company will reexamine the Ford Mustang Mach-E’s engineering and hopefully release a safer version on the market. The company is expected to release a statement about an EV solution by fall 2022. Owners of the current Mach-Es will receive an email about the recall after ordering information has been given to the dealerships. Customers can take their vehicle to a Ford dealership for inspection and answer other questions about the EV recall.
Though Ford is one of the most powerful automotive companies in the nation, the sequential recalls involving the Ford Mustang Mach-Es have put the corporation in a precarious position. Its insistence on beating out EV competitors like Tesla has not been as successful as hoped. The car company still intends to transform many of its popular cars into electric-battery versions, despite the recall setbacks.
